Before tryouts, our school Davidson Day Varsity team went to Appalachian State to partake in the high school camp together! This was such a great experience! We stayed in dorms, ate in dining halls and hung out with the App State Volleyball Team! We did team bonding as well as drills, individual practice and team play!! I had a great time and it was so fun to hear about how the girls manage the school work, practices, games, and travel in their lives!!
After App State I went on an annual vacation with my family and spent the week in Florida! Right when we got back from Florida we had school tryouts! I was so excited to be back in the gym and playing! Our coach is super big on conditioning, and during the entire week we did conditioning activities in teams of about three or four girls and encouraged each other to push through the exercise! This was so much fun!
That same week, we also did a scavenger hunt around our entire school campus against the soccer team where we were sprinting for the entire 1.5 hours and doing problem solving actives with some of the girls on the team. Of course the, volleyball team did win the scavenger hunt! 😁 Before the scavenger hunt, we had a match against some of the DDS alumni girls and our coach even played!
The following Saturday morning was club tryouts! I woke up early and drove down to CUVC and I was very excited! While at CUVC I was offered the 17 Open Team, which is now their top team!
I accepted this offer with CUVC as I felt like the coach, Bill Ferguson, and program there will further my growth as a player.
I was sad not to be returning back to CJV with all my people but I know I will see them during the season!
I am excited for this change and I think it will be lots of fun and provide me with great opportunities.
